Appointed
to the San Diego Housing Commission by Mayor Dick Murphy in June 2002, Jennifer Adams-Brooks brings a breadth of experience to the
Board. She
has over 20 years experience in the areas of corporate communications,
public affairs, training, legislative activities, and strategic planning.
The former chief of staff for Congresswoman Susan Davis, Adams-Brooks
is currently the president of Clark Consultants, a firm specializing in
business management, public relations and human resources. Her previous
experience includes construction and engineering management, government
affairs, advertising and sales. She was the chief of staff to San Diego
Council member Wes Pratt and also served as interim executive director for
the Southeast Economic Development Corporation.
Among Adams-Brooks’ accomplishments are her efforts to further contracting
opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses, including
co-facilitation of recruitment training for Walt Disney Imagineering.
In addition to her role as commissioner, Adams-Brooks serves on the boards
of a number of local organizations, including: Safe Harbor (a transitional
housing program for homeless men); the Board of Overseers for the
University of California, San Diego; the Civil Society Working Group for
the San Diego Foundation; the Charles & Shirley Thomas Foundation; and the Springall Academy.
She earned bachelor of arts degrees in communications and urban planning studies from the University of California, San Diego. She is certified in
coaching by the International Coaching Federation and participated in a
graduate studies program at Colorado's Coach University. Additionally, Adams-Brooks is a graduate of the LEAD San Diego leadership training
program.
